With age, the factory Throttle Cable Bushing gets soft and spongy, or cracks letting the throttle cable sag. Throttle response gets worse since the cable must first straighten up before it starts to move the throttle plate. Replacing the worn bushings with the billet aluminum bushings eliminates cable sag to give a crisp throttle response.
Important: Does Not Fit E30/E28 M20 Cars or the 750 or 850.
WILL THESE THROTTLE CABLE BUSHINGS FIT MY BMW?
These throttle cable bushings are designed to fit the following Years & Models
- E39 and E38 (1993 to 1998) 528, 530, 540, 740, and 840 without ETK (Electronic Throttle Controller) M60 and M62 motors
- E36 and E34 (1990 to 1999) M3, M5, 325, 328, 525, 528, 535, 735
- M20, M42, M30, S14, M/S5x, or M6x motors
- E34 M20 cars
- E28s with M30s only
- Sorry, does NOT work on the 750, 850, or E30/E28 M20 cars
INSTALLATION NOTES
Quick Tip: Its easier to replace the bushings if you remove the throttle body from the intake manifold
Step 1: Unhook the throttle cable from the throttle body
Step 2: Unscrew the throttle cable from the factory bushing and carefully cut the old bushing off the cable
Step 3: Put the throttle cable through the slot on the aluminum bushing.
Step 4: Put the aluminum bushing through the throttle cable bushing bracket and secure it with the snap-ring provided
Step 5: Reinstall the throttle cable back on the throttle body and install it back on the intake manifold.
Step 6: Adjust the tension on the throttle cable till it's tight but still allows the throttle body to close without interference.
