VDO E30 Odometer Gear Repair Set - KMH

Please note: This version of VDO gears is meant for euro spec KM clusters only. This will not work on MPH units. If you own an E30, chances are, you have a broken odometer. The KMs have stopped counting long ago and it bugs you every time you get in your E30! Well as much fun as it is to guess when your next maintenance item or oil change is due, wouldn't it be nice to just fix this problem? Yes it can be expensive. Most shops charge over $200 for odometer repair! Don't overpay! The reason your E30 odometer is broken because of the factory odometer gears inside! Replacing these worn gears will repair it. Easy DIY installation!

EURO E30 ODOMETER KMH DIY KIT INCLUDES

The three gears that need replacement. We no longer include two spacers since our newest design includes a stand off (post) that keeps the gears spaced correctly and moving smoothly (just like the original OEM gear design). The factory E30 gears get soft over time (imagine how a stale Oreo cookie would feel when broken in half, that's what the gears in your current broken gauge feels like). These gears are quality made with better than OEM material with a quality fit and finish. These gears will outlive your car! On these euro versions (KMH) there are a couple different options for the third gear count. The most common is 16. This is the default number we send. Please check the number of teeth on your third gear to confirm you get the right version. If you do not we will send you the default (and most common) euro tooth count. When purchasing our kit be sure to check out the Garagistic INSTALLATION GUIDE.

HOW DO WE KNOW IF I HAVE MOTOMETER OR VDO?

The E30 chassis came with either a VDO or Motometer unit, unfortunately there is no specific year or model range to denote which one your car came with. There is a way to check, however. The first check is on the bezel for the gauge cluster right between the speedo and tacho there should be a logo embossed there stating either VDO or Motometer. So long as the cluster has not been opened and a gauge swapped out, this should be accurate to the model speedo/odo that is in the cluster. The 100% surefire way to know which version you have is to remove the cluster, open the case and on the circuit board on the back of the speedo/odo there should be a sticker or etching directly on the circuit board stating VDO or Motometer. With this information you will know which gear set you need!
